To join the SMA as a Full Member in as smooth a way as possible,
follow the steps below!

Make sure your qualification is eligible for SMA membership.

Check our list of eligible qualifications
Read our policy on intensive courses
Check our list of schools delivering ineligible qualifications
OR: email us with your qualification certificate & details of where and when you studied if you are in any doubt!"

Make sure you have full professional liability insurance.

Applicants eligible for SMA membership can also apply for the SMA's discounted rate of insurance with Balens. Click HERE for more info!

IF YOU GAINED YOUR QUALIFICATION MORE THAN 3 YEARS AGO:

Make sure you have evidence to hand that you have maintained your practice since qualifying. Find out more about potential forms of evidence HERE.

There was no standardisation of content in Sports Massage qualifications before 2011. If you hold a qualification gained before this then please contact us on email, including a copy of your qualification certificate, to ask about eligibility for membership.
