Working with Athletes with Disabilities

Thursday 1st May at 7pm

The SMA is in communication with the organising committee for the Commonwealth Games taking place in Glasgow in 2026. While we do not have any definitive information to offer at this stage, we highly recommend attending this Study Event if working at the games is something you are interested in.

Synopsis:

This session will explore the essential considerations when supporting Paralympic athletes in a high-performance environment. Sinead will discuss how to approach impairment specific needs, highlighting the importance of effective communication and will share her experience of working with paralympic athletes. Of course, the clients don’t have to be athletes for this information to be useful.

Biography:

Sinead Chambers is an experienced sports physiotherapist, currently working within Olympic & Paralympic sport in Sport Northern Ireland’s Sports Institute.

She has a particular passion and knowledge of Paralympic sport, having attended both Tokyo 2020 & Paris 2024 Paralympic games as a physio for GB Para Badminton & Paralympics GB respectively.

Sinead is looking forward to forming connections, sharing ideas and experiences with members of SMA.

Chair of the SMA, Yvonne Blake, will open the event at 7pm. We're looking forward to seeing you there!
